Funding for cannabis research. A new congressional bill aiming to eliminate obstacles for academic research of cannabis, protect universities and researchers who study it, and promote the responsible study of marijuana, was introduced this week by Congresswoman Dina Titus (D-NV) and Congressman Joe Neguse (D-CO).
The legal, responsible use of cannabis has been a major economic driver in Nevada and deserves further study.

āThis bill will facilitate trusted university partners to engage in the kinds of research that will best equip state and federal lawmakers and regulators to develop effective cannabis policies based on public health and safety, will allow consumers to make more informed choices, and will help train the next generation of cannabis researchers.ā
The bill would allocate $150 million in federal funding for university-sponsored medical cannabis research.

Green Check Verified + Komplyd. Cannabis FinTech Green Check Verified announced this week that it has acquired compliance-as-a-service platform Komplyd. The acquisition will enable Green Check Verified to further integrate with seed-to-sale technologies and more seamlessly connect the supply chain of the plant to the supply chain of commerce. This comes on the heels of the companyās $6 million Series A, which it raised in February.
āPartnering with Komplyd enables a much deeper level of data connectivity, resulting in an insights-driven, integrated experience for the cannabis operators on our platform and providing greater value to our marketplace providers and financial institution clients.ā
Green Check Verified previously acquired PayQwick in September of last year to bolster their payments and lending capabilities. In January, they launched a marketplace connecting CRBs to vetted financial services providers including banking, lending, insurance, payroll, human resources, and cash logistics.
