Green rush. Delaware finally debuted adult-use cannabis sales at the end of last week. The opening weekend generated over $903,000 in total revenue, with $625,000 coming from adult-use purchases.
“Delaware’s first weekend of adult-use cannabis sales has shown that our state is ready—and eager—for a well-regulated, responsible market. This moment reflects our commitment to growing Delaware’s economy, strengthening our communities, and prioritizing public health. Now, we have a real opportunity to reinvest this revenue directly into neighborhoods across our state, ensuring Delaware becomes a national model for cannabis quality, innovation, and fairness. I’m proud we’re moving thoughtfully and deliberately to get this right for all Delawareans.”
The initial phase kicked off with a select group of medical dispensaries already in operation that secured conversion licenses. Additional licensees across the supply chain are expected to be up and running in the coming months as the state continues to rollout the market.
Adult-use cannabis officially became legal in the state back in April 2023.

Tracking the next move. Metrc and BioTrack, the two primary track-and-trace solutions for regulators, this week announced a rather vague and somewhat confusing strategic partnership. A new entity, BT Government, has been created to oversee BioTrack’s government-focused operations as part of the move.
The main takeaway from the issued release was as follows: “BioTrack will expand its focus on commercial cannabis solutions, including ERP and POS platforms, while Metrc’s partnership with BT Government will support the delivery of regulatory technology to state partners. This alignment enables both organizations to better serve their respective audiences and drive innovation across the cannabis technology ecosystem.”
The news prompted significant reaction across the U.S. cannabis industry. New York has paused its seed-to-sale integration deadline for licensees while it assesses the implications of these recent developments. BioTrack is the vendor chosen to implement the state’s tracking system.
The updates have also sparked speculation that Metrc might take over compliance contracts with state governments nationwide or that a merger or acquisition could be forthcoming.
Stay tuned for more on this as further details emerge.
